Why did I buy Now?

With my credit in the basement I knew financing was entirely out of the question. This was the hurdle that kept me from my dream machine. Well, back in March of 2007 I was online and decided to see if Shopsmith had a website. My visit netted me a peak at the upgrades since I last saw the Shopsmith in action. I also ordered a demonstration DVD. About a week after the DVD arrived I got a phone call from a gentleman named Stan Whelan. He was very forthcoming with all of the information I requested. This guy is good! He suggested that I just try a credit application to see what possibilities might be available to me. With a "nothing ventured nothing gained attitude" I decided to take Stan up on his offer to process a credit application. So he and I had several phone conversations until I had finally put together what I considered the bare minimum configured system that I would need to start a small woodworking business. Stan then submitted my application and I think it was two days later he called me with the results. To my dismay and chagrin he told me that I had been approved for a 6 year term for the entire amount of the purchase! I didn't even need to make a down payment. Whats even better is it was low risk to me. I could use the Shopsmith for 90 days with a no risk return policy. If I didn't like it, I just ship it back! All I would be out is the shipping.

I discussed the matter with my wife and she agreed that if I could earn enough with the Shopsmith to cover the monthly payment then it would be worth giving it a try.

I decided not to pass the opportunity up. I gathered all of the cash that I had stashed away for a rainy day so that I could make a down payment and not finance the whole thing. This brought my monthly payment to $75 a month. I figured I could easily make the $75 per month building and repairing things for other people.

I placed my order in mid March and by April my machine had been delivered and I got my first "hands on" with the tool.
