I really have nothing to compare this tool with. I haven't ever really had the need to bore horizontally. Everything that I have ever drilled has fit just fine in a drill press. It is comforting to know that should I ever need the function I have it. If I were to need to bore some holes in some long posts for say a poster bed I would be able to do it. This is the only thing I can think of using this function for. I just did a set-up for pocket holes using my horizontal boring machine. The picture below shows how I set-up my stops and angles. Check back here at a later date as I have a project coming up where this machine could prove quite useful.
