The Shopsmith shaper is another machine that runs in an abnormal plane. By this I mean the cutters spin vertically instead of horizontally. This means you have to rethink your use of feather boards and the way you feed your stock. I have used my shaper for several different molding applications and have only had one difficulty. The cutter vibrates pretty bad and if you have not really tightened down the table height, you will find your depth of cut getting deeper. Just keep in mind the three point heck list and you have no problems. The three point checklist:
