The three point checklist:
| Table Saw Features:
The table saw feature has some real unique qualities. Some took a little getting used to but, once you get used to it it becomes natural. The most significant difference in the Shopsmith table saw and a conventional one is the way in which cuts are made that require the blade to be at a tilt to the table. With a conventional machine you turn a crank to tilt the blade and motor assembly. The table stays parallel to the floor. Not so with the Shopsmith. With the Mark V you actually tilt the table! (see photo's) This is great as long as you have the fence on the low side of the table. This actually makes these cuts safer. Again I have to brag about the variable speed headstock. I have saved so much time, effort and money because of this. Matching the speed of the blade to the type and thickness of material makes cutting faster and more efficient. It even saves on blade wear. Another thing that takes awhile getting used to is the blade height adjustment. With a conventional table saw you raise and lower the motor/blade assembly. With the Shopsmith you raise and lower the table. This makes it necessary to adjust any outfeed rollers every time you adjust your depth of cut. The outfeed rollers aren't used often unless I'm making cuts longer than 32".
